Peterhead 1 Stranraer 2
Full Time

Scorers:
Peterhead:
Andy Roddie (50)

Stranraer:
Alan Grant (pen 67)
David Graham (75)

Referee: S.McDonald

Yellow cards:
Stranraer:
Murray Henderson

Stranraer subs:
G McPhee for S Aitken (46)
Graham for M Moore (71)

Not really much of a match report, but it's the best I can find so far:

Peterhead lost their 100% league record as The Blues came from behind to grab all three points for the first time this season.

The home side dominated the first half. Martin Bavidge twice came close to scoring. Peterhead deservedly went in front in the 50th minute when ex Stranraer man Andy Roddy had his goalbound shot deflected into the net by Frazer Wright.

The Blue Toon failed to build on their lead however and were punished as Stranraer drew level. Alan Grant made sure there were no more misses when he scored from the penalty spot in the 67th minute, after being fouled by Mark Perry.

The Blues grabbed the winner after 76 minutes. Substitute David Graham ran clear before lobbing the ball over the advancing Paul Mathers for an excellent away win.

Agreed. Stupid league fixtures angry.gif On the bright side, we've got the main rivals out of the way early and we've shown we can more than compete grin.gif

I was glad to see East Stirlingshire get a result too. I'd love them to be promoted with us at the end of the season clap.gif

What a way to get your first win, those points could be invaluable at the end of the year. Turn over East Stirling next week and then we could be third and hunting. I believe we played well too. It was good to see Davie Graham on the score sheet, come to think of it good to see him playing he came in with a bit of hype having stung us last year. Nice to see him giving it out for us. A win against Morton would be nice but back to the park to turn over East Strling now thats more important for me.

Great result today. I was a bit sceptical last week over whether or not we were ready to take on the so-called form team but a 2-1 win is great but more than anything before we all do the conga down london road lets remember its only a start.

I wasnt worried as such but i was wondering if the long trip and the confidence levels would affect them. Obviously not! Absolutely brilliant result and already pegs back a team which is more than capable of running away with it by all accounts. We are more than capable of beating "The Shire" and i can see us doing Elgin too and if we get another couple of decent results in games like those our season will be well and truly kick started.

Great result for you guys today, especially up there as it's a hard place to come away with points.Your team are maybe now coming to terms with being in the 3rd division. banghead.gif The result also put us top of the league for at least a whole 2 weeks which is a great feeling(although it might not last that long!).Stirling will know how we are going to do this season with 3 difficult fixtures coming up(Peterhead and Rovers at home and then Gretna away).Six or seven points from these would be really nice. Also it's great to see we are scoring goals this season,as well as defending like we did last year(conceded only 1).Anyway if any of you are going to forthcoming Scotland games I hope you'll enjoy the 2 of them as much as I'm going to 00.gif .

I went up there yesterday and had a decent day. Peterheads ground is quite favorable compared to some Bogs ive been to. Didne bother with the pies though, but i thought the team played really well. First half we did well to dig in and take all of the cr@p thrown at us but in the second half we showed we could battle AND score. The result was something encouraging but we need to do that week in week out, and get the chances in the net.

I dont see any reason why we should fear Morton on Wednesday. By the way nice job on the match report Gaz clap.gif

I was also at the game yesterday and was delighted with the result as truthfully, Peterhead probably deserved something from the game.

What worried me was that in the first half and at the start of the second we seemed content to chase the ball and couldnt hold on to it at all.

Having said that, we didnt play our best and to beat the team at the top with a not brilliant performance will do me nicely tongue.gif

40 for a place like Peterhead is good. Top result, few more like that and we will start to worry people. That Albion result though is looking more important every day.

Andy Roddie's a great player. He put a couple past q*s at Palmerston a couple of seasons back. I think he got two and Paul Ronald got three.

I was there on Sat and thought that we were lucky to go in on level terms at half time. Some desperate defending coupled with poor finishing by Peterhead.Second half was a bit better but we did not really start to play the way we can until late on.Having said that it was good to come away from one of the favourites with 3 points as it was the result that mattered more than the performance. We have played a lot better and lost.
